Have you ever been afraid or doubted something would come true? Especially if your own efforts weren’t involved?
Fear has many faces and it shows itself through our pride and self sufficiency.
In the garden of Eden, Eve was deceived into thinking that God didn’t really care about her and she could feasibly take care of herself, without God or her husband.
What happened? Look around you. Fear is the most devastating disease of the mind, body and soul. Fear isn’t just a feeling..fear is death.
In John 11:1-45, Jesus “neglected” the health and life of his best friend Lazarus, or so his family and friends perceived. Jesus got word that Lazarus was sick. He was less than 2 miles away, but he chose to wait 2 days before visiting Lazarus. Have you ever walked less than 2 miles to get somewhere? It’s not very far is it?
By the time he arrived, his friend was dead. Not only that, but he was prepared for burial and laid in a tomb for 4 days!
Jesus seemed to add insult to injury by arriving so “LATE.”
What happened after his appearance? Let’s read!
Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. “Take away the stone,” he said.
**“But, Lord,” said Martha, the sister of the dead man, “by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days.” Then Jesus said, “Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, “Father, I thank you that you have heard me. I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”
When he had said this, Jesus called in a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!” The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.
Jesus said to them, “Take off the grave clothes and let him go.” John 11: 38:45 (NIV)
Wow! Even when Jesus was about to do something AMAZING and ordered the tomb stone to be rolled away, the family was still hanging on to death!
They were still limiting God by their unbelief and self-sufficiency.
Have you ever said, BUT LORD, when God was about to do something great in your life?
No wonder Jesus wept.
Do you have a past friendship with Jesus? Tell me, has he ever failed you? Have you ever stumbled and fell? When did he NOT pick you back up and breathed into you the breath of life again?
Just because your plans aren’t being fulfilled in line with your LIFE-TIME LINE, doesn’t mean that God’s Timing is OFF.
STOP giving into the LAZARUS COMPLEX! GOD’S got your back. 🙂
Are you communicating with him on a daily basis or just calling on him when you need him?
Surrender takes practice. Start today to surrender your agenda’ with GOD. He knows your family and that your time is valuable. He died on the Cross and went to Hell for your Life-Time.
Don’t try to understand God. HE loves YOU, isn’t that enough? 🙂
